Jimmy's Benefit

Just realized that I never posted about Jimmy's Benefit on this blog! Below is a repost from my other blog.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Tonight was Jimmy's benefit. I blogged about the benefit/him here. There was a great turnout, but no total yet!

Rachel and I had a table of our stuff, including some Ghana flag themed items. :) The donation basket on our table (we did prices labeled as suggested donation, not actually sold it) $166 for Jimmy!! Praise God! Ironic thing is, that's the same amount as our farmers market last weekend for  Lilly! :)

The tables all set up, ready for lots of people to eat lots of pie!

And the pies.... yes, I'm being cruel and making you hungry. Bwahaha (evil laugh)! ;]

All the people watching the groups that played tonight...

In Harmony...

Con Brio...

Don Shire...

And the Ott Family led several songs at the end, one of which I will share when my ridiculously SLOW internet finally finishes the 1 min 30 sec video after 2 hours. No, I'm not joking.

And then there's the fun in the nursery! :) My little 3 sibs - Elijah, Rachel, Jonathan, my mom"big" Rachel, and half of the Prevost family, including Caleb! :)

It was an awesome night to bring an awesome little boy home!!

Ghana & Jimmy & Flag Dishcloths

On Saturday night, there is an adoption benefit to help bring Jimmy home from Ghana, Africa.

I blogged more of Jimmy's story over on my other blog if you would like to read it.

And if you are local, you are invited!

Rachel and I will be there, selling these Ghana flag dishcloths, as well as some other items.

We'd love to see you there! :)

Finished Friday - Lyla's Hat

I mentioned I was in NY for a couple weeks last Finished Friday, but didn't really explain why. I am here helping to provide childcare for an adopting family as Mama goes back to get baby Lyla. I've been blogging about my time here on my other blog, but there's something I want to share with you craft related! :)

Yesterday Lyla had her "Gotcha" day, which means her mama got her out of the orphanage forever!!! They'll be home in about a week, after they finish up all the paperwork and get her passport and stuff, but look what she got to wear for her gotcha day!!!!

Along with that adorable outfit, a hat I got to make!! :) Summer was looking at a hat that was similar at the store the day before she left, but it wasn't the right size. I told her I would make one (thank goodness I happened to bring along the right colors for another project!!), and was able to customize the colors and size a little bit more, as well as adding the heart. :)

The hot glue I used to glue on the heart got a little messy, but otherwise I'm really happy with how it turned out! :)

I've been too busy loving on the babies here to do anything else!!

If you would like to join me in this Finished Friday quest to get rid of all the half finished projects we all have... please blog about your project(s) you have finished the past week on Friday's, and come back here and leave a comment with your blog link. If this is successful, in the future I might set up a linky list you can join. Projects do not have to be projects you procrastinated on, they can be anything, sewing/crocheting/knitting or any other fiber art, and they need to be FINISHED! :)

Finished Friday - Starfish and a Lilypad - and a Prayer Request

If you would like to join me in this Finished Friday quest to get rid of all the half finished projects we all have... please blog about your project(s) you have finished the past week on Friday's, and come back here and leave a comment with your blog link. Compared to all I got done last week, this week's Finished Friday is a little pathetic, but it's better than nothing, right?

This week I made several more of these Starfish....
And one Starfish in a different color....
I used Sugar'n'Cream self striping cotton... not too happy with how it striped out, but it'll take forever to get it so it's perfect! :)
And this Lilypad!
I had made this lilypad dishcloth quite awhile ago, but finished it up to the last 5 stitches for some reason, then it ripped out some more being stored. When I found it looking for something else, I pulled it out and finished it so I would have something that I've been procrastinating on for Finished Friday. :)

You can buy the blue, green, and white starfish, and the lilypad here and here if you would like, and 100% of the sale will go to help Lilly find a family!

I have also listed many more items on our blog, and are listing many more daily, so go check it out with the new dropdown menu (that I spent hours on) under "SHOP" over at our blog "Handiwork for Lilly". :)

Also can I ask you to pray for this sweet princess???
Her name is Selah, and she has been in a terrible accident and nearly drowned. She is fighting for her life, and really NEEDS PRAYERS!!! You can read more and read updates over at my other blog.

Finished Friday - A Bag, a Skirt, Dishcloths, a Frog, a Bluebird, a Bag, and a Starfish

This post is everything that I got done for Fair after my last Finished Friday! :) So in other words, you've seen all these pictures, except the last one.

And my newest project came as an inspiration from the newest "craze" in the Reece's Rainbow orphan advocating community - A starfish dishcloth. In rainbow colors. The Rainbow Starfish Dishcloth. My only brilliant idea of the century. ;)
I've kept it a secret from all but one person outside my family, until the big reveal... which happened today over at Handiwork for Lilly, where the first starfish went up for sale. These are a specialty item, only for a limited time, so go get yours today (more being listed soon!).
If you haven't heard the story of the starfish, here is is -

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, "Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can't save all these starfish. You can't begin to make a difference!"

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

"Well, I made a difference to that one!"

The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the starfish were saved.

The same goes in the world of orphan advocating. There are 147 million orphans. It's impossible for one person to save them all, but we can all make a different to one. And little by little it will add up!

And buying a dishcloth (or any other item) from my other blog - a starfish or not, will make a difference to a little starfish, that little starfish being Miss Lilly, who is still waiting for a forever family to make a difference for her.

Craft Sale Today!

Today we had a craft sale which was part of a fundraiser for a local family adopting from Haiti. They are adopting a sweet little girl named Naika:
Isn't she just darling??
She won't be able to come home for awhile, but I encourage you to go check out her family's blog!

After a really busy day yesterday (that included a lot more drama than I would have preferred), we went to set up last night, and stayed up really late (or shall I say early?) trying to get projects done. By we, I mean Rachel, my "business partner", who also happens to by my best friend, and I. This morning we got up at an hour no sane person would choose to get up at if they had a choice (and I'm not sane, so I don't know how that works...), and got ready and headed out!

Here's our table before it started.
Those french boards??? Ya, we are selling 1-2 per craft sale, so at this rate, we'll have them all gone in 3 years. :)
Potholders in the bottom right were made by my 9yo sister Anna
Tutus. :) Oh and those lightsaber looking things... another post coming about those. :)
And of course, I didn't get pictures after before we packed everything up. I seriously think I have only remembered to do it at the beginning and end for one craft sale, ever! Oh well, there wasn't too much gone that you could visibly see.

The morning started out sorta slow, I'm going to guess mainly due the last minute change of address due to flooding in the originally planned location. But mid morning it picked up considerably, but I think that most of the sales for everyone including us were from vendor to vendor. That's why I never bring my own spending money to craft sales - because vendors like to buy from each other more than shoppers! :)

We sold some stuff, of course not as much as we had hoped, but you never do! We ended up raising $78, all of which went to Naika's family! It's a lot more than we expected to raise, so PRAISE GOD! :)

I've been busy this afternoon marking things as sold on our website, and working on listing new things, so please got check it out! There's lots there! :)

And please also check out our puzzle fundraiser we have going on for Lilly too!

Thank you!!!

Craft Sale!

**Repost from Matthew 18:14**

I had a Craft Sale this Saturday morning at our local Farmer's Market to help raise money to bring Logan and Lilly home! It was a beautiful day (compared to the last 3 weeks which were cold, windy, and nasty!!), and I'd say we had a great turn out! What I thought would go quick didn't, but a lot of things went that I didn't think would.

Practice set up in the garage. SOO glad we did this!!

Me and my tent in the morning, shortly before it started.

French Boards!

Sorry, you don't get to see the pic of his family!!! You shoulda come if you wanna know who they are! :) My friend Jaclyn also sent me some bows to sell for Logan, which was VERY generous of her, considering she is trying to fund her own adoption. If you can, please go help her out!!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH JACLYN!!!!

She also sent me tutu headbands, and tutus! Sorry the tutu thing is backwards in this pic.

And it's backwards in this one too! After awhile the sun came out and we took the cover off the tent and left the frame up. Not only for warmth, but for more exposure. And it worked! The sales seemed to pick up and we had more interest after that! Standing by the table is Dottie, who came to sit with me while my mom watched the little ones at my bro's football game. Thanks soo much Dottie!!!!

Happy Customer! :)

This time I FINALLY remembered to take picture of my table after I set it up at on the morning, and before I took it down!

Sorry, you still don't get to see who they are! :)
THANK YOU SOO MUCH to EVERYONE who came out!! And a BIG thank you to my amazing parents!!!! They have both been such as help with tents, my sign, tables, set up, and staying up late to get projects done! Couldn't have done it with out them!

So I'm sure you all want to know total's, eh? Logan is almost $40 closer to being home, and Lilly is almost $80 closer to finding a family!! God is GOOD! Oh soo good! And Logan and Lilly say THANK YOU!!
